The decree was announced today by the Council of Ministers and allows for urgent provisions in the organization and conduct of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The provision gives the green light to the establishment of the company Infrastrutture Milano Cortina 2020-2026 Spa, which will, as a central purchasing body and contracting station, have as its corporate objective the construction of the envisaged works. Furthermore, the decree-law formalizes that the State will provide financial guarantees to the cost of the works. Lastly, the decree establishes the joint Olympic Council, a body with functions of general direction and high-level surveillance on the program for the realization of the Games, and recognizes the organizing Committee, established as a Foundation on December 9, 2019 by CONI, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Region of Lombardy, the Region of Veneto, the City of Milan, and the Municipality of Cortina.
